DistributionNative to Europe and the Middle East.
Habit
Annual herbs; stems 1-4 dm long, many-branched, appressed villous.
Leaves
Leaflets elliptic to linear-elliptic or linear, 8-25 mm long, 2-4 mm wide, soft pubescent, margins weakly serrulate toward apex, stipules lanceolate-subulate, adnate to petioles only at base.
Flowers
Heads terminal and axillary, elongating into a cylindrical spike 10-40 mm long, 8-15 mm in diameter, peduncles 8-35 mm long, pedicels 0-0.2 mm long, bracts absent; calyx tube 1.6-2 mm long, 10-nerved, pubescent, the throat open, the teeth setaceous, 3-5 mm long, plumose, surpassing the corolla; corolla yellowish white to pale rose, ca. 4 mm long, persistent in fruit.
Fruit
Pods ovoid, enclosed in the calyx.
