Heads in compound cymes; outer involucral bracts usually purple near apex, lanceolate to ovate, 3.5-6.5 mm long, 1.3-2.8 mm wide, strigillose, apex attenuate to acute; chaffy bracts usually purple near apex; ray florets 8-16 per head, rays oblong, 5-13 mm long, 2.3-4.8 mm wide; disk florets 20-40 per head, corollas 4-merous, 3-5 mm long, lobes 0.8-1.3 mm long; anthers 1.4-1.8 mm long; pappus of connate scales forming a corona or variously reduced and with awns ca. 1.6 mm long. |
