General Information
DistributionNative to eastern and southern Asia and western Pacific.
Habit
Similar to Emelia coccinea and E. fosbergii, except plants usually more slender and branched.
Leaves
Leaves usually lyrate pinnatifid and dentate, the lower ones usually pinnately lobed.
Flowers
Heads with involucre 2-4 times as high as wide, as long as corolla, consisting of ca. 8 bracts, usually 9-12 mm long; florets usually 20-40 per head, corollas lavender to pale purple, as long as the involucral bracts or scarcely surpassing them, the lobes 0.3-1.7 mm long.
Fruit
Achenes 3 mm long, 0.5 mm wide, 5-ribbed, ribs puberulous; pappus white, 8 mm long, bristles slender.
Chromosomes
2n = 10, 20, 30.
