Habit
Trees 2.5-10 m tall, apex of young branches viscid.
Leaves
Leaves chartaceous, ovate to lanceolate, sometimes elliptic or elliptic-oblong, 11-18(-25) cm long, 3.5-7.5(-9.5) cm wide, sparsely appressed pubescent to glabrous, margins crenate, rarely subentire, apex acuminate, occasionally acute or rarely some subobtuse, base slightly asymmetrical, broadly cuneate, petioles green to pale orange, (2.5-)3.5-6.5(-8.2) cm long, stipules lanceolate, ca. 2 mm long, caducous.
Flowers
Flowers usually 5-8 in racemes (2.5-)4.5-6(-9) cm long, pedicels 8-12 mm long; sepals narrowly lanceolate, 6-10 mm long, sometimes sparsely puberulent externally, margins scarious and minutely ciliate; petals greenish white, linear, 7-9 mm long, sparsely puberulent, apex emarginate; stamens 13-16, ca. 2-4 mm long; ovary ovoid, 2-3-celled, ovules 3-6 per cell; style indistinctly 2-3-lobed.
Fruit
Fruit usually only 1 developing toward apex of each raceme, dull green to greenish yellow, turning black, ellipsoid, 2.2-2.8 cm long, the receptacle pubescent.
