General Information
DistributionNative to central and southern Europe.In the Hawaiian Islands, naturalized on Hawai`i. First collected 1979, L. Yoshida 79.099.















Habit
Annual or biennial herbs 2-9 dm tall; stems often branched, hirsute, at least near the base.
Leaves
Leaves lanceolate or oblanceolate, 3-30 cm long, 0.5-4.5 cm wide, quickly reduced upward, glabrous or hirsute, denticulate to pinnatifid, lower leaves on short pedicels, upper ones sessile and clasping the stem.
Flowers
Heads with 20-60 florets; involucre 5-8 mm high, the bracts often with long, black, glandular hairs along the midrib.
Fruit
Achenes yellowish to pale brown, fusiform, ca. 10-ribbed, 1.5-2.5 mm long.
