DistributionNative to Eurasia, widely naturalized.In the Hawaiian Islands, naturalized on O`ahu, Moloka`i, Maui.















Habit
Coarse annual herbs, silky villous throughout, often densely so, especially on younger parts; stems erect and some prostrate on same plant, 2-5 dm long, branched from base.
Leaves
Leaves sometimes succulent, linear to narrowly oblanceolate, 0.5-4 cm long, young ones silky villous.
Flowers
Flowers in axillary clusters; calyx lobes ca. 1 mm long, villous, each one with a reddish, spreading, hooked spine.
Seeds
Seed lenticular, ca. 1 mm in diameter.
Chromosomes
2n = 18.
