Note: In describing this species, Brown designated three different collections, from two different islands, as "types": Brown & Brown 1017 as "type, 1st sheet"; Nuku Hiva, Tovii [Toovii], 800 m, 15 October 1922, E.H. Quayle 1289 as "type, 2d sheet" (BISH 149213!, 149214!, 149216!); and Nuku Hiva, Tovii [Toovii], 800 m, 15 October 1922, E.H. Quayle 1336 as "type, 3d sheet" (BISH 149215!, 149217!, 149218!). We have selected Brown & Brown 1017 as lectotype because, of the seven sheets cited as types by Brown, it is the best specimen, and in so doing we give priority to the specimen that Brown named "type, 1st sheet".)
