Lectotype [BISH]. Isolectotype(s) [BISH!]. Lectotypified in Sherff. Field Mus. Nat. Hist., Bot. Ser. 22: 524. 1942.
Note: Epithet spelled "halophylum" in original pub., but orthography corrected by Sherff, Amer. J. Bot. 28: 18. 1941. Both Rock and Nevin were collectors of 6183, although only Rock's name is on the labels of the sheets at BISH sheets. Additional syntype material: same locality, 14 August 1911, Nevin (Rock's collection number) 6183a (BISH!).
