Type Information
Lysimachia hillebrandii Hook. f. ex A. Gray , Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts 5: 328 1862 [Jan].
O`ahu, Kalihi. 1851- 1871. Hillebrand s.n..
Lectotype [B]. Isolectotype(s) [fragment BISH ex B].
Note: "O`ahu and Maui", but see R. Knuth, Pflanzenr. IV. 237 (Heft 22): 310. 1905. Syntype, US. THIS RECORD NEEDS WORK! Need to look at material at Harvard, maybe Kew, especially if there is a copy of Hooker's ms or any correspondence between Hooker & Gray. Marr & Bohm (1997) lectotypified on Hillebrand collection at K.

Lysimachia hillebrandii Hook. f. ex A. Gray var. helleri R. Knuth, in Pax & Knuth, Pflanzenr. IV. 237 (Heft 22): 310 1905.
Kaua`i, on the Hanapepe Watershed, ridge W of Hanapepe River. 3000 ft. 23 July 1895. Heller 2614.
Lectotype [BM]. Syntype(s) [US!]. Lectotypified in H. St. John. Phytologia 64: 45. 1987.

Note: Collection 2614, pro parte. The holotype at B was destroyed in World War II. Knuth did not cite a date, nor did Heller. Two collections made on different dates were distributed under Heller 2614, the 23 July collection used as the type of L. hanapepeensis (for which St. John added an an "A" to some of the sheets) and the US specimen, which is dated 22 August (an additional syntype). It seems odd that St. John would use a duplicate of the 23 July collection as the lectotype rather than one of the 22 August sheets, but perhaps he thought the 23 July collection was mixed material. Possible isolectotypes: MO, P. For unknown reasons Marr and Bohm (1997) include this name as a nomenclatural synonym of L. kalalauensis, which is based on a different type.

Lysimachia hillebrandii Hook. f. ex A. Gray var. venosa Wawra, Flora 57: 523 1874.
Kaua`i, on the top of Wai`ale`ale. 1830 m. 1869- 1870. Wawra 2165.
Holotype [W]. Isotype(s) [BISH [fragment of one of the W sheets], W].

Note: It's not known whether the fragment at BISH is from the holotype or the isotype at W. Pencilled note on BISH copy of Wawra gives pg. number as 571--check at US. Marr & Bohm erroneously cite "Flora 5:523."
