Lectotype [BISH]. Isolectotype(s) [BISH! [2], F]. Lectotypified in Sherff. Field Mus. Nat. Hist., Bot. Ser. 17: 525. 1939.

Note: As "lydgateii". Additional syntype: Kaua`i, Wahiawa drainage basin, ridges near swamp, J. M. Lydgate s.n. (BISH!). One of the BISH sheets may be the specimen Sherff cited as being at F, because "Field" is pencilled on the label, and Sherff's own notation of the symbol for male is on the sheet.
