Lectotype [BISH]. Syntype(s) [BISH! [2]]. Lectotypified in Skottsb.. Acta Horti Gothob. 13: 493. 1940.

Note: There are 3 sheets at BISH. One is labelled lectotype. Of the other two, one is clearly a syntype, Rock 8686, "near Kaupo, Maui, Nov. 1910." The other is either an isolectotype or a syntype. The original collection number (8686) was crossed out and replaced with 8563 in the same handwriting. Locality and date are "Haleakala, Maui, Oct. 1910." Check Skottsberg. (RKS & WLW, 1/95)
