Pelea wawraeana Rock var. tenuifolia (Hillebr. ex Rock) H. St. John & Hume, in St. John, Lloydia 7: 273. 1944. Flora of the Hawaiian Islands --Basionym
Type Information

Note: St. John and Hume made their combination based on the mistaken notion that Rock had published the combination Pelea sandwicensis var. tenuifolia (Bot. Gaz. (Crawfordsville) 65: 265. 1918). Rock was merely referring to the annotations on the Hillebrand collections as a way to distinguish between the specimens he was discussing. See Stone's discussion (Pacific Science 16: 372. 1962).

Pelea wawraeana Rock var. ternifolia B. C. Stone, Pacific Sci. 16: 372. 1962. Flora of the Hawaiian Islands --Basionym
Type Information

Note: Not validly published. Stone based his name on Hillebrand's P. sandwicensis gamma var. (Fl. Hawaiian Isl. 67. 1888), but did not provide the necessary Latin.
