Note: Syntypes: "Collected by Mr. Lydgate in the forests of Hamakua and Waikapu, Maui!" (B, destroyed). St. John (Pacific Sci. 33: 374. 1979[1980]) erroneously considered a sheet at B that was destroyed to be the holotype, but since Hillebrand cited two localities, there was apparently more than one collection made by Lydgate. Also, it is not clear which of the two sheets at BISH St. John intended to lectotypify on (see notes in journal, p. 42). RKS, 9/97.
