Note: Fosberg cited three parts of Rock 8363, but only one as type. Others (one sheet at US, annotated as an isotype by FRF, and one at BISH) should be considered isotypes (according to DHN). Three other sheets of Rock 8363 were specifically excluded from this taxon by Fosberg, who considered them to be a hybrid between this taxon and Gouldia hillebrandii var. hawaiiensis.
