Note: Rock included Hillebrand's C. lysiosepala var. ß (Fl. Hawaiian Isl. 330. 1888) in the protologue of his new variety and cited the Hamakua, East Maui syntype. He also stated that the West Maui collection mentioned by Hillebrand could not be located.
