Bidens menziesii (A. Gray) Sherff var. lepida O. Deg. & Sherff, in Sherff, Amer. J. Bot. 38: 65. 1951.
Type information:
Holotype [F]. O. Degener and H. Wiebke 2894. 11 June 1928. Moloka`i: small valley E of east fork of Kawelo Gulch, [southeast] Moloka`i.1500ft. Isotype(s) [BISH! [3], F].

Note: Sherff cited Degener & Wiebke 2894 pro parte for the type; he considered this collection to be a mixture of his var. lepida and the typical variety. Earlier he had considered as var. filiformis the collections he put in his new var. lepida, restricting his concept of var. filiformis to plants from the island of Hawai`i only. He did not cite any isotypes at BISH (or in Herb. Degener), and there is no evidence that he saw two of the isotypes at BISH, but they are considered isotypes because they fit his diagnosis.
