Habit
Scandent or decumbent vines up to several m long; stems 4-angled, glabrous to densely hispid.
Leaves
Leaves membranous, broadly ovate, 3.2-5.9 cm long, 2.1-3.4 cm wide, lower surface glabrous or sparsely hispid, margins serrate, apex acute or rarely obtuse, base obtuse to truncate or rarely cordate, petioles 9-18 mm long, sparsely to moderately pubescent.
Flowers
Flowers (2-)4-6 per verticillaster, pedicels (8-)11-16 mm long, glabrous or rarely sparsely hispid; calyx more or less radially symmetrical, tubular, 10-29 mm long, glabrous or rarely sparsely hispid, the teeth obtuse, 1-8 mm long, 3-6 mm wide at base; corolla cream, pink, or red, tomentose distally externally, glabrous within, tube strongly falcate, (35-)45-56 mm long, upper lip 7-17 mm long, lower lip 8-10 mm long.
Fruit
Nutlets ca. 8 mm long.
