Habit
Small trees or shrubs 1.5-3.5 m tall.
Leaves
Leaves oblanceolate, 4-10 cm long, 2-3.5 cm wide, glabrous or glabrate, margins usually toothed from apex to at least 1/2 their length, apex acute, base acuminate, petioles 1-1.5 cm long.
Flowers
Flowers (1-)3 in cymes 10-25 mm long, crowded near upper branchlets, peduncles 4-7 mm long, pedicels 2-7 mm long, subtended by paired bracteoles; calyx minute; corolla white with purple lines within, glabrous externally, pubescent within, the tube 12-17 mm long, the lobes 8-15 mm long, margins winged; stamens ± as long as corolla tube; style 18-22 mm long.
Fruit
Fruit dark purplish black, ovoid, 5-7 mm long, 3-5 mm wide, glabrous or sparsely pubescent.
