DistributionNative from Mexico to Brazil and Argentina; naturalized in many other parts of the world.In the Hawaiian Islands, naturalized on Kaua`i, O`ahu, Moloka`i, Lana`i, Maui, Kaho`olawe, Hawai`i.
















Habit
Annual herb, 0.5‒2.5 m tall, glabrous or pubescent, hairs spreading.
Leaves
Leaves usually petiolate; blade lanceolate to narrowly ovate, 4‒25 cm long, 2‒10 cm wide, usually deeply pinnately lobed, margin coarsely dentate or serrate; petiole 0‒8.5 cm long, sometimes winged.
Flowers
Heads erect; involucral bracts 12‒14(‒16), 7‒8 mm long; corollas yellowish to pale purple; pappus pink to pale purple.
