General Information
DistributionOriginally from tropical America, now pantropical.In the Hawaiian Islands, naturalized on Kaua`i, O`ahu, Moloka`i, Lana`i, Maui, Hawai`i.

Coarse, perennial herb, 3‒15(‒20) dm tall, villous, often densely so.
Leaves cauline, rarely primarily basal; blade oblanceolate to elliptic-oblanceolate, 7‒22 cm long, 2‒7 cm wide, adaxial surface dark green, abaxial surface paler and densely soft pubescent, margin crenate, base clasping the stem.
Heads in terminal clusters subtended by broadly deltate bracts, each head with ca. 4 florets; involucral bracts 8, in 2 series, outer ones 4.5‒5 mm long, inner ones 5.5‒7.5 mm long; corollas white or pinkish, 3‒4 mm long; pappus of 5(‒8) straight bristles.
Achenes obovoid, 1.9‒2.7 mm long.
