Habit
Terrestrial or epiphytic trees or shrubs 2-5 m tall.
Leaves
Leaves oblanceolate or oblong, blades 8-19 cm long, 2.2-4.5 cm wide, upper surface dark green, glabrous, lower surface pale green or purplish, pubescent, margins callose-crenulate, apex acute, acuminate, or cuspidate, base attenuate, petioles 1.5-6 cm long.
Flowers
Inflorescences 2-3-flowered, peduncles 3-18 mm long, pedicels 3-18 mm long; hypanthium obconical or obovoid, 10-16 mm long, 8-11 mm wide; perianth greenish or purple externally, purple or blackish purple within, 38-50 mm long, 7-11 mm wide, glabrous, the tube suberect, the lobes spreading, as long as the tube or a little longer; staminal column purple, included within perianth, glabrous; anthers dark purple, glabrous.
Fruit
Berries orange, subglobose to ellipsoid, 25-30 mm long, 15-30 mm wide.
