Habit
Terrestrial or epiphytic shrubs or trees 2-7 m tall.
Leaves
Leaves oblong to elliptic, blades 5-17 cm long, 1.5-7 cm wide, glabrous, upper surface dark green, glossy, lower surface pale green, margins callose-crenulate, apex acute, acuminate, or cuspidate, base cuneate or obtuse, petioles 1.5-8 cm long.
Flowers
Inflorescences 1-2-flowered, glabrous or rarely pubescent, peduncles 8-30 mm long, pedicels 5-30 mm long; hypanthium hemispherical to obconical, 9-15 mm long, 10-11 mm wide, glabrous or rarely pubescent; calyx lobes deltate to shallowly triangular, 2-4 mm long, 2-4 mm wide, apex acute to acuminate; corolla greenish or purplish externally, cream within, 60-70 mm long, 5-8 mm wide, glabrous or pubescent, the tube arcuate, the lobes 1/4-1/5 as long as the tube, all curved downward in the same plane, the corolla thus appearing unilabiate; staminal column greenish white to cream, exserted, glabrous; anthers cream-colored, glabrous or sparsely pubescent.
Fruit
Berries orange, subglobose, 25-35 mm long, 25-35 mm wide.
