Habit
Terrestrial or epiphytic shrubs or trees 1.5-6.5 m tall.
Leaves
Leaves oblong, elliptic, or oblanceolate, blades 7-25 cm long, 2-5 cm wide, upper surface green, glabrous, lower surface pale green, glabrous or pubescent along the veins, margins callose-crenulate, apex acuminate, acute, obtuse, or cuspidate, base cuneate or attenuate, petioles 1-7 cm long.
Flowers
Inflorescences 1-2(-4)-flowered, glabrous or pubescent, peduncles 18-50 mm long, pedicels 15-40 mm long; hypanthium hemispherical to obconical, 10-15 mm long, 10-15 mm wide; calyx lobes narrowly triangular to triangular, 2-36 mm long, 0.5-10 mm wide, distinct or connate at base, apex acute or acuminate; corolla greenish, white, or purplish, 40-60 mm long, 6-12 mm wide, glabrous or pubescent, the tube suberect to curved, the lobes all of equal length, about as long as the tube, spreading; staminal column white or purplish, glabrous; anthers white or purplish, glabrous.
Fruit
Berries orange or yellow, subglobose, 20-36 mm long, 20-36 mm wide.
