Habit
Climbing vines from an enlarged tuber like root.
Leaves
Leaves thin, ovate to ovate hastate, 2-13 cm long, 2-9 cm wide, conspicuously reticulate veined, puberulent, especially along veins, apex acuminate, base deeply cordate.
Flowers
Tepals bright pink to white, usually 5-18 mm long in fruit, becoming membranous.
Fruit
Nuts strongly angled at apex.
Chromosomes
2n = 14, 40, 42 44, 48.
