Habit
Epiphytic, small, narrow, linear; rhizomes long-creeping, thin, less than 1 mm diameter, wiry, black, often forming tangled mats.
Leaves
Fronds erect to spreading, 3-20 x 0.1-0.4 cm, arranged in a tangled compact mass; stipe 2-15 mm long before widening into blade; blade narrow, long-linear, pale green, thick, chartaceous, glabrous, margin entire, sometime sinuate.
Sori
Sori sparse, irregularly scattered, medial but often so large as to protrude beyond the blade margin.
Notes
Latin tenellus, delicate, in reference to the small, narrow fronds.
