Habit
Perennial, biennial or annual herbs.
Leaves
Leaves alternate, flat with entire margins, tomentose on both surfaces.
Flowers
Capitula many in corymbs. Involucral bracts papery, coloured, stereome divided. Receptacle flat, epaleate. Outer florets filiform, yellow. Central florets perfect, yellow. Anthers with flat appendages. Style branches truncate, with hairs apically.
Fruit
Cypselae oblong, with short clavate twin hairs. Pappus bristles capillary, barbellate, free.
